Inspired by the Golden Record aboard the Voyager spaceships, I wanted to place my viewer in a space that meshes Earth and the otherworldly. The sound of the Voyager's engine leaving our Solar System plays on a loop in the background while the viewer controls what is played through the speakers by walking throughout the space. At different points in the room, different sounds will be played that are taken from the Golden Record, which holds a collection of sounds from Earth, such as a baby crying. Alone in a room and surrounded by machine, the viewer is isolated with only sounds of life on Earth to remind them of home.
